Every spring Rock Hill is inundated with tiny green canker worms. These seem to be the primary food source for some local green tiger beetles. The town has wrapped many hardwoods to stop the worms from ascending.
During a walk I saw one of these hardwoods with a band of glued worms around its middle. The tiger beetles were flocking to the tree like a buffet.
